With 22 years experience, Anne’s patient and sensitive tuition builds up pupils’ confidence by teaching good, traditional watercolour techniques as well as encouraging sound sketchbook studies. Good watercolour paintings essentially have simplicity, freshness and clarity as well as tonal impact. The most important ingredients to achieve this are finding a suitable subject; analysing what is essential to the painting; improving the composition; planning the tonal range; choosing the palette of colours; and executing the brushstrokes with simplicity and confidence. Personal style development is encouraged and course numbers are limited to 12 to facilitate individual learning.
It is, therefore, suggested that every serious watercolour student will get enormous benefit from a Mastering Watercolour course followed by a Watercolour Wash Techniques course in order to practise the techniques introduced in the Mastering course. Flower and garden painters will love the Flower Painting course with the freedom of a large, light studio to work in and will also gain inspiration from the surrounding beautiful garden. Full details of the 2007 courses are available on the Broadway Foot website - 2007 Course Details |

Anne is essentially a "plein air" painter - working in the field wherever possible. The winter/spring indoor courses therefore are designed to help the student master the difficult medium of watercolour and, when the weather is warmer, to paint on location, where watercolour is the ideal medium for capturing quick changes in light and mood.
